An expensive habit
You can cause a lot of damage to your car by resting your hand on the gearshift while driving. When you do this, the switch fork presses against the rotating parts of the transmission, which in turn causes a lot of wear and tear on the gears. Too technical? What it basically means is that your transmission will need replacing much sooner than you’d like. An expensive habit, as it can easily cost you €1.200.
Here’s one more tip. When you stop at a traffic light, you want to put your car into neutral so that you can release the clutch. Holding down the clutch causes constant friction which means it’ll need replacing sooner.
